Hi. This one is going to be a little different. Because I’m back home in Denmark. After a lovely week with my family in Crete (despite the weather), where my dad celebrated his 60th birthday, I travelled home with them.

A very short recap of the past two weeks. I left Chiang Mai on September 24. After thirty-something hours spread across four flights, I landed in Crete. I met up with the others at the resort, where we had a few good sunny days swimming and having drinks by the pool. Then my dad’s birthday arrived, and the weather took a turn for the worse, with rain and especially strong winds. It actually became so extreme that several places in Crete were flooded. On the evening we were supposed to fly home, an emergency alert went off on everyone’s phones advising against all unnecessary outdoor travel because of the severe weather. So naturally, we got on a bus and headed for the airport.

Despite the weather warnings, we got away without much trouble. Some flights were delayed because of diverted air traffic. Apparently, there was an airport where planes couldn’t land, so they were being sent to ours instead. The runway was getting a little crowded. But we got away. Almost on time, too. The people flying to Copenhagen apparently had to wait for many hours. I’m glad I didn’t book that flight.
And now I’m back home in Silkeborg. The air is crisp, with white, fluffy clouds in the sky. Proper autumn weather. I’ve been walking around Silkeborg, through town and along the lakes. Can I find some of the same things here that I’ve enjoyed in my everyday life over the past seven months? Yes, I can. For the immediate future, though, my daily life has changed considerably.
My travel blog is going on pause. Given that I’m not travelling at the moment, that seems fair enough. The wind has gone out of the sails as well. It was almost as if the moment I decided to go home, my inspiration and motivation for the travel blog disappeared with it. I still have a couple of stories from Chiang Mai that will remain unwritten. You’ll have to ask me about them when we meet again.
I still need some time to settle in and figure out what my new everyday life is going to look like, but I’m fairly certain I’m not done travelling. Right now, I think next year might already bring another longer trip, but time will tell. And when that happens, perhaps I’ll bring this blog back to life.
Thank you for reading my stories. I hope I’ve brought something interesting into your everyday life. Don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything you’d like to know about my travels, whether it’s about the practical side of travelling or the experiences themselves.
